Three artists selected for Campbellton Public Art Call

January 23, 2024

We are pleased to announce the public art projects selected for the Campbellton Addiction Services centre, Centre Espoir et équilibre!

Projects by artists Luc A. Charette, Jean Hudson, and Gilbert LeBlanc will be realized in 2024.

The projects are "Vous êtes notre monde" by Edmundston-based multidisciplinary visual and installation artist Luc A. Charette; "Transformation", "The Beacons", and "Journey" by Prince William-based metal artist Jean Hudson; "Arbre à fruits/Headspace" by LaPlante-based metal artist Gilbert LeBlanc.

Stay tuned for more information on the artists as well as their pieces on the Public Art page.

This $250,000 investment in public art at Centre Espoir et équilibre is part of the New Brunswick Public Art Policy. Established in 2018, the policy ensures that a percentage of the construction budget for all new provincial government building projects is allocated towards the commission of public art for the new building.

Following policy guidelines, a selection process was undertaken with an external evaluation committee including three professional artists and representatives from Centre Espoir et équilibre. Over 45 professional artists applied to the artist call, 10 were shortlisted and presented detailed proposals, and three received the commission.

Congratulations to the selected artists!
