Bio
My name is Cindy Duclos, and I am a professional photographer based in Moncton. Inspired by the nature that surrounds me, I specialize in macro photography. Nature is at the heart of my practice, and this approach allows me to highlight details that often go unnoticed. Through my workshops, I enjoy guiding participants through a creative exploration, where we learn to see things differently, to understand what exits right around us, and create, using what nature offers.
Residency Project
Proposed project: I offer an activity centered on the nature that surrounds us, explored through macro photography. Using images of New Brunswick’s flora—trees, flowers, textures, and details from all four seasons—I invite students to discover the names of these species and the beauty found in the small details of the natural world. A box of natural elements will be available for participants to create their own macro images using their tablets and magnifiers. The activity aims to spark curiosity, encourage observation and creativity, and celebrate a unique and vibrant Francophone community connected to the nature of our region.
Teaching Experience
I have been leading visual arts workshops in schools for several years, primarily through macro photography workshops adapted to students from kindergarten to high school. My approach is participatory, sensory, and discovery-based. I encourage young people to observe nature closely, develop their creativity, and experiment with different visual tools. I have led workshops in several schools in New Brunswick, including Sainte-Thérèse, Amirault, Louis J.-Robichaud, Le Mascaret, Mgr Marcel François Richard, and Sainte-Bernadette. I always adapt my activities to the age, pace, and needs of each group.
