  • The storytelling kit is very adaptable. I used to attend music and arts festivals as a roaming storyteller so everything is portable and requires minimal to no setup. A large chalkboard/whiteboard to draw on.

Bio

Duncan Rowan Ireland is a storyteller and multidisciplinary artist. He crafts elaborate and unexpectedly unfolding storybooks and scrolls of preposterous proportions.

Residency Project

I would like to work with the students to craft a scroll, through creative writing, crafting, and art activities.

Using reclaimed and recycled materials, through instruction and participation, each student will craft their own personal scroll to scribe a story into.

In demonstrating the methods and techniques, I will craft a large scroll where everyone is invited to collaborate on. This creates a larger art piece that can be displayed along a hallway or ceiling.

Teaching Experience

I have performed the storybook in schools, at libraries, festivals and community spaces, often facilitating an art activity as well. I invite community members of all ages to draw and write into large scrolls and collaborative colouring books.
