Bio

Estelle Dupuis has been teaching at DansEncorps for over 10 years. A graduate of the Programme Préprofessionnel (Jeune Troupe) in 2011, she danced professionally for Compagnie DansEncorps in the productions “Allons-y”, “Connivence” and “École buissonnière”. Her career as a teacher and performer at DansEncorps has given her the opportunity to train and perform locally, nationally (New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec, Yukon) and internationally (France, Jamaica, Taiwan, Australia). Estelle Dupuis also holds a B.A. from Université de Moncton (major in history and minor in political science) and an M.A. in history from Laurentian University in Sudbury.

Residency Project

Through this workshop in movement, participants explore the evolution of dance in Acadie, from traditional to contemporary dances. Different forms such as round dance, line dance and jig are on the program. This experience will enable them to discover the cultural richness of Acadie while developing their sense of rhythm and bodily expression. Participants will be introduced to the French-language musical works that have left their mark on Acadian culture, and that continue to make this unique culture shine. This musical and choreographic journey will take us through the ages, from traditional folk music to modern Acadian music. This residency provides a valuable opportunity for students to combine culture and self-expression, celebrating an integral part of Canada's francophone history. Through dance, they will develop their coordination, sense of rhythm and understanding of Acadian heritage. The workshop concludes with a foray into contemporary dance, showing how this art remains a means of expression for many Acadians.

Teaching Experience

Estelle has a wealth of experience in teaching dance, with a particular ease with the very young, from 5 to 12 years old, while her expertise extends to all age groups. With over 10 years' experience, she teaches mainly creative dance, hip hop and the advanced program at DansEncorps. At the same time, she shares her passion for Acadian dance and regularly leads cultural mediation workshops in various contexts, notably in the Greater Moncton area, such as at the Musée acadien.
