Bio
Océane Lanteigne, a 2023 Département d’art dramatique de l'Université de Moncton (DADUM) graduate, is living her passion for theater to the full. Between her work as a stage manager at the Pays de la Sagouine, her presentation of the short film “Sketch” at FICFA 2022, her children's theater courses at the Capitol Academy, and her positions as assistant director, she never misses an opportunity to learn the facets of her craft. But her love of acting and writing is unwavering: she lent her voice to the video game “Rogue Company”, played Natasha Arquette in Mont-Rouge, and starred in revivals of “Ubu Roi” and “Fahrenheit 451”. She has twice taken part in the Festival à haute voix, and continues to write while acting in front of the camera and on stage.
Residency Project
For this project, the main objective is to create a play. We start with the basics of acting (emotional, physical and vocal exploration workshops). After that, each student creates his or her own character, and I take charge of creating a play with all the proposals from the class. We then move into rehearsals (aiming for at least one scene a day). Once the staging is complete, the play is presented.
At the Pays de la Sagouine, I was a theater camp animator for three years. In other words, I taught theater to eight-to fourteen-year-olds, while introducing them to the world of the site. Most of this was done in the form of games, but at the end of each week, the children had to present their sketches in the form of a show.
Teaching Experience
Since 2023, I've been teaching at the Capitol Academy. This is my seventh class. My current group is six to seven-year-olds, but I've also taught eight to ten-year-olds (as well as substitute teaching eleven to thirteen-year-olds).
I've also been a guest performer at the Festival de théâtre scolaire du sud-est and the Festival de théâtre jeunesse en Acadie (FTJA) for the past two years giving workshops at both festivals.
My approach as a teacher is always to let young people's creativity run free. My duty is, of course, to get them hooked on theater, but also to help them develop skills that will serve them for the rest of their lives: teamwork, communication, creativity, leadership, perseverance, rigour and so on.
