Linda Brine

Linda Brine

Nationality
  • Canadian

Originally from Stratford, Ontario, Linda holds a BFA with Honours from the University of Windsor and a certificate in Adult Education, from the University of New Brunswick.

Her move to Fredericton NB in 1989, led to her discovery of the Craft School, now the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, where she studied weaving, dyeing and computer assisted design. During this time she also began her self-directed explorations of hand bookbinding and the possibilities of weaving paper. Regular participation in numerous specialized workshops with many wonderful teachers expanded her repertoire of material practices.

Linda joined the staff at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design in 1999, and from 2001-2011 she served as Studio Head of Textiles/Fibre Arts, teaching a wide range of fibre techniques, and managing the daily operations of the Fibre Arts Studio.

Linda returned to Ontario in 2012, and recently found a lovely old stone house with a third storey studio loft in Galt/Cambridge, where she now pursues her studio practice full time,

Linda has been the grateful recipient of several Creation Grants from the New Brunswick Arts Board and the Canada Council in support of both her Bookworks and Woven Paper Textiles. A cultural volunteer since 1990, Linda is a member of Craft Ontario, Fibre Arts Network (FAN), Canadian Bookbinders and Book Artist’s Guild (CBBAG), Kitchener-Waterloo Weaves and Spinners Guild (KWWS), Surface Design Association (SDA) and Canadian Society of Decorative Arts (CSDA).
