Tara Francis is a Mi’kmaw Artist, who specializes in the Mi’kmaq art of porcupine quill work as well as silk and acrylic painting. She studied and taught at the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design. She’s received international recognition, becoming New Brunswick’s Inaugural Indigenous Artist Laureate. Her work can be found in public and private collections around the globe, including the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, the Smithsonian Affiliated Abbe Museum. Her m3 work has been gifted to King Charles III. Tara sits on the board of Mawi’art: Wabanaki Arts Collective, and New Brunswick’s Status of the Artist Committee. She is dedicated to advancing artists and art styles of Wabanaki Territory. She has received several grants and has had her writing published in art magazines.
