“I’ve learned to observe nature so well that now the slightest detail is a source of inspiration for me. I enjoy every little thing, from the moment I have a chance to get away to contemplate them.” – Sister Eulalie Boudreau (Annonciade)

Originally from northeastern New Brunswick, Sister Eulalie Boudreau [d. 1988] is an important figure in Acadian modern art. As a devoted nun and educator, she trained many of the region’s young artists. She was also the first woman to direct the Galerie d'art de l'Université de Moncton (now GALRC) from 1977 to 1980.

[..]Sister Eulalie Boudreau was particularly sensitive to phenomenas of nature and these inspired many of her works. She painted various aspects of the natural world and forest landscapes in her own unique way, experimenting with the trends of her time, such as abstraction and expressionism.
