Small profile Mélanie Parent

Acadian visual artist born in Campbellton in 1977. Mélanie Parent studied visual arts at the Université de Moncton (1995-1999) and then in graphic design at McKenzie College in Moncton (2009-2010). In 2013, she moved back to Campbellton with her family.

She has exhibited solo throughout New Brunswick, and half a dozen of her works are in public in public collections in various institutions across the province. Several of her of her works have been featured in major curated group exhibitions including: "Les Incontournables", 2019, Congrès Mondiale Acadien at the Centre des arts et de la culture de Dieppe, as well as "L'Acadie - le pays et ses gens", summer 2022, at Musée Michel Ciry, in Normandy, from which an article on his work was written in the French magazine, ARTension. Recipient of grants from ArtsNB (2020) and the Canada Council for the Arts (2022), her work is inhabited by reflections is inhabited by reflections on our interactions with one another. Naturally, she became interested in cultural mediation and the accessibility of art in society. In March 2023, she was invited to take part in the "Printemps Francophone" festival in Haute-France where, together with the citizens of the Communauté de communes du Pays Solesmois community work, which is now part of the public collection of the Conservatoire de Musique de Solesmes. The artist offers workshops at various socio-community organizations and schools organizations and schools, as well as at her studio at Circolo art & culture in Campbellton cultural collaboration center and gallery.
